The government can collect taxes, which I keep writing about here, because the economy is functioning. And how does the economy function? The government does not know that. But to justify the government, let me remind you what Dick Armey said about economics and the economists who advise the government: “economics is a science that discusses things perfectly familiar to us in language we cannot understand”.
