On the 30th anniversary of the death of the greatest non-conformist of the People’s Republic of Poland and apostle of common sense Stefan Kisielewski, we organized a WEI debate, which took place on 27 September at 7 p.m. in the Freedom Lounge.
The main focus of the debate will be freedom of speech — the value Kisiel fought for all his life. What would he say about left-wing cancel culture? The politics of censorship on social media? Increasing government propaganda through national media? Punishment for hate speech? We can only guess at this. The guests invited by the Warsaw Enterprise Institute will discuss whether the scope of freedom of speech in Poland is sufficiently high and, above all, whether it is adequately protected. Or perhaps free speech is under fire and needs a whole legion of publicists and intellectuals who, like Kisiel, would once again stand up for it?
